Polish Retail Trade Growth at 3-Month High
Retail sales in Poland jumped 5.9 percent year-on-year in November of 2019, following a 5.4 percent rise in the previous month and above market expectations of 4.9 percent. It was the highest growth in retail trade since August, as sales advanced faster for newspapers & books (8.9 percent vs 6.7 percent in October); pharmaceuticals & cosmetics (10.1 percent vs 8.6 percent); furniture, appliances & electronics (11.9 percent vs 11.4 percent) and “others” (1.7 percent vs 0.4 percent). In contrast, sales rose at a softer pace for food, beverages & tobacco products (5.3 percent vs 6.0 percent) and motor vehicles & parts (1.8 percent vs 3.0 percent).

Polish October Retail Growth Beats Forecasts
Retail sales in Poland increased 5.4 percent year-on-year in October of 2019, accelerating from a 5.3 percent rise in the prior month and beating market consensus of 5.1 percent. Sales advanced faster for food, beverages & tobacco products (6.0 percent vs 2.2 percent in September) and newspapers & books (6.7 percent vs 5.5 percent). On the other hand, sales advanced at a softer pace for pharmaceuticals & cosmetics (8.6 percent vs 13.1 percent); clothing & footwear (4.6 percent vs 7.8 percent); motor vehicles & parts (3.0 percent vs 7.3 percent) and “others” (0.4 percent vs 0.5 percent). In addition, those of furniture, appliances & electronics rose 11.4 percent, the same as in September. On a monthly basis, retail sales jumped 7.4 percent, rebounding from a 4.0 percent fall in the prior month.

Polish Retail Sales Growth at 3-Month Low of 5.3%
Retail sales in Poland rose 5.3 percent from a year earlier in September of 2019, easing from a 6.0 percent jump in the previous month and below market expectations of a 8 percent surge. It was the smallest gain in retail trade since June, as sales advanced less for food, beverages & tobacco (2.2 percent vs 7.6 percent in August); furniture,appliances,electronics (11.4 percent vs 12.0 percent); fuels (1.0 percent vs 1.4 percent) and others (0.5 percent vs 1.3 percent). In contrast, sales rose faster for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics (13.1 percent vs 8.8 percent); clothing, footwear (7.8 percent vs 5.8 percent) and newspapers, books (5.5 percent vs 2.2 percent). In addition, those of motor vehicles, parts rebounded markedly (7.3 percent vs -0.6 percent). On a monthly basis, retail sales declined 4 percent, following a 0.4 percent drop in the previous month.

Poland Retail Trade Growth Slows More than Expected
Retail sales in Poland climbed 6 percent year-on-year in August of 2019, easing from a 7.4 percent jump in the previous month and below market expectations of a 6.5 percent gain. Sales slowed for fuels (1.4 percent vs 3.1 percent in July); food, beverages & tobacco (7.6 percent vs 8 percent); pharmaceuticals & cosmetics (8.8 percent vs 12.7 percent); furniture, appliances & electronics (12 percent vs 16.3 percent); newspapers & books (2.2 percent vs 2.5 percent) and other (1.3 percent vs 4.2 percent). Meantime, sales fell for motor vehicles & parts (-0.6 percent vs 4.4 percent) while other sales in non-specialised stores advanced further (12.5 percent vs 12 percent). On a monthly basis, retail trade decreased 0.4 percent, down from a 1.7 percent rise in July.

Retail sales in Poland jumped 7.4 percent year-on-year in July of 2019, following a 5.3 percent rise in the previous month and slightly above market expectations of 7.3 percent. It was the highest growth in retail trade since April, as sales advanced further for food, beverages & tobacco (8 percent vs 3.3 percent in June); motor vehicles & parts (4.4 percent vs 1.7 percent); pharmaceuticals & cosmetics (12.7 percent vs 10.2 percent); furniture, appliances & electronics (16.3 percent vs 9.2 percent) and other in non-specialised stores (12 percent vs 9.6 percent). In addition, sales rebounded for newspapers & books (2.5 percent vs -0.4 percent) and others (4.2 percent vs -2.3 percent). On the other hand, fuel sales slowed (3.1 percent vs 5.8 percent).

Poland Retail Trade Growth Slows Less than Expected
Retail sales in Poland increased 5.3 percent year-on-year in June of 2019, easing from a 7.3 percent in the previous month and above market expectations of 4.9 percent. Sales slowed for motor vehicles and parts (1.7 percent from 12.6 percent in May); food, beverages & tobacco (3.3 percent from 5.2 percent); pharmaceuticals and cosmetics (10.2 percent from 16.6 percent) and furniture, appliances and electronics (9.2 percent from 17.4 percent). Also, sales fell for newspapers and books (-0.4 percent from 1.4 percent) and others (-2.3 percent from 3.4 percent). On the other hand, sales advanced faster for fuels (5.8 percent from 4 percent) and rebounded for clothing & footwear (11.2 percent from -1.9 percent). On a monthly basis, retail trade went up 1.5 percent, after a 3 percent fall in May.
