Mauritius Inflation Rate Steady at 7-Month Low of 0.3%
The annual inflation rate in Mauritius remained unchanged at 0.3 percent in November 2019, its lowest level since March. Prices slowed for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (0.1 percent vs 0.9 percent in October) and clothing & footwear (2.6 percent vs 3.2 percent) while decreased for transport (-1.9 percent vs -1.6 percent); housing & utilities (-0.2 percent vs 0.2 percent); communication (-0.3 percent vs -0.4 percent) and education (-3 percent, the same pace as in October). In contrast, cost increased faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (0.6 percent vs 0.4 percent); furnishings (1.9 percent vs 1.5 percent); recreation & culture (1.6 percent vs 1.4 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (1.4 percent vs 0.9 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.3 percent, after falling 0.5 percent in the previous month.

Mauritius Inflation Rate at 7-Month Low of 0.4%
The annual inflation rate in Mauritius dropped to 0.4 percent in October 2019 from 1.3 percent in the previous month. This was the lowest inflation rate since a 1.4 percent fall in March. Prices slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (0.5 percent vs 4.2 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (0.9 percent vs 1.0 percent in September). In addition, cost continued to fall for both transport (-1.6 percent, the same pace as in September) and education (-3 percent vs -4 percent). On the other hand, prices rose faster for restaurants & hotels (2.3 percent vs 1.3 percent), while alcoholic beverages & tobacco inflation was steady (at 1.0 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.5 percent, after falling 0.4 percent in the previous month.

The annual inflation rate in Mauritius dropped to 1.3 percent in September 2019 from 1.8 percent in the previous month. Prices slowed mostly for food & non-alcoholic beverages (4.2 percent vs 5.8 percent in August); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (1.0 percent vs 1.6 percent); restaurants & hotels (1.3 percent vs 2.4 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (1.0 percent vs 1.2 percent). Also, cost declined for transport (-1.3 percent vs -1.2 percent); education (-4 percent, the same pace as in August) and housing & utilities (-0.5 percent, the same pace as in August). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.4 percent, after increasing 0.3 percent in the previous month.

Mauritius Inflation Rate at 8-Month High of 1.8%
The annual inflation rate in Mauritius climbed to 1.8 percent in August 2019, the highest level since last December, from 0.8 percent in July, mainly due to rising prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (5.8 percent vs 3.1 percent in July). Additional upward pressure came from alcoholic beverages & tobacco (1.6 percent vs 1.1 percent); furnishings (2.2 percent vs 1.6 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (1.2 percent vs 0.6 percent) and clothing & footwear (3.4 percent vs 3.2 percent). Meanwhile, prices fell for housing & utilities (-0.5 percent vs -0.6 percent) and transport (-1.2 percent vs -2.8 percent); recreation & culture (-4 percent, the same pace as in July) and communication (-0.1 percent, the same pace as in July). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 0.3 percent, after being flat in the previous month.

Mauritius Inflation Rate Ticks Up to 0.8% in July
The annual inflation rate in Mauritius edged higher at 0.8 percent in July 2019 from 0.6 percent in the prior month. Main upward pressure came from prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.1 percent vs 2.0 percent in June); furnishings (1.6 percent vs 1.2 percent); restaurants & hotels (3.2 percent vs 3.1 percent) and recreation & culture (1.5 percent vs 1.2 percent). Meantime, inflation slowed mostly for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (1.1 percent vs 1.2 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (0.6 percent vs 1.7 percent). On the other hand, cost declined for transport (-2.8 percent vs -3.3 percent); housing & utilities (-0.6 percent vs -0.1 percent); education (-4 percent vs -3.2 percent) and communication (-0.1 percent vs 0.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were flat after falling 0.9 percent in the prior month.

The annual inflation rate in Mauritius eased to 0.6 percent in June 2019 from 0.8 percent in the prior month. Prices rose at a slower pace for furnishings (1.2 percent vs 1.5 percent in May); health (1.9 percent vs 2.0 percent) and fell for transport (-3.3 percent vs -0.6 percent) and housing & utilities (-0.1 percent vs 0.2 percent). On the other hand, cost advanced faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2 percent vs 1.4 percent); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (1.2 percent vs 1.0 percent); clothing & footwear (3.3 percent vs 3.0 percent); restaurants & hotels (3.1 percent vs 2.6 percent); recreation & culture (1.2 percent vs 0.8 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (1.7 percent vs 0.5 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices decreased 0.9 percent, after being unchanged in the previous month.
